The St. Mary’s Michigan Fun Fest was created to bring the Detroit community together to raise awareness for and funds to build for the Mariam Outreach Center, which fosters youth and family enrichment. The two-story, 30,000-square-foot building’s construction is slated to be complete in 2020. The main level will contain five meeting rooms, a youth activity room, exercise room, and gymnasium with locker rooms, as well as administrative offices. The lower level will contain 19 meeting rooms. Possible activities hosted at the center include mother and toddler playgroups, Junior High and High School academic and sports activities, ongoing teen leadership programs, continuing adult education, and bilingual education. Other services may include adult day care, outreach for abused mothers, after school latch-key programs, grief counseling, and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
