Healthy Pet Expands, Shifts in Pandemic

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

AUSTIN PET STORE CHAIN EXPANDS, SHIFTS DURING PANDEMIC

AUSTIN, TEXAS (February 15, 2021) — Healthy Pet, an Austin-based pet store chain, has sustained during the pandemic due to a swift transition to online shopping and local delivery.

Healthy Pet expanded in January 2020 by adding a fourth location at the Hill Country Galleria in Bee Cave, Texas. When the pandemic hit in March, the co-owners, Trevor MacKellar and Chris Jabbori, faced the unprecedented new challenge by focusing efforts on their newly launched e-commerce website and revamping in-store procedures. The locally owned chain offered free local delivery for qualified purchases with most orders being delivered within 24 hours. As an essential business, the stores were able to remain open, but  staff encouraged shoppers to take advantage of contactless curbside pickup to make caring for pets easy and safe during COVID.

“What a year to open a fourth location,” said Trevor MacKellar, co-owner of Healthy Pet, which opened its first location at the Shop at Arbor Trails in 2012. “Like so many local businesses, we had to shift quickly and figure out how to continue to serve our community while being safe and responsible.”

Healthy Pet offers a wide selection of premium pet products at various price points, specializing in holistic and all-natural pet foods. All Healthy Pet locations feature Do-It-Yourself Dog Washes so customers can enjoy fresh pets without making a mess at home. Prior to the pandemic, rescue adoptions and community-focused events were staples of Healthy Pet’s calendar.

Located at Lakeline Mall, Hill Country Galleria, Seaholm District in downtown Austin and the Shops at Arbor Trails, locations are open for in-person shopping or orders can be placed online for curbside pickup or delivery at healthypetaustin.com.
