ROYAL OAK GOLF CENTER DEBUTS $1.4 MILLION RENOVATION
Royal Oak, MI (June 27, 2017) — The Royal Oak Golf Center (3500 Edgar Ave., Royal Oak) announces the completion of its $1.4 million renovation, designed and completed by Royal Oak-based Krieger Klatt Architects and Ronnisch Construction Group.
Renovations, which broke ground last fall, included the expansion to 32 covered, heated tees to the practice range, a new snack shop and Adventure Golf building and entrance, as well as substantial updates to the 18-hole mini-golf championship course. The new outdoor pavilion provides a great meeting space and can accommodate groups as large as 100 people for any celebration this summer – birthdays, corporate hospitality events, charity fundraisers, family golf outings and private golf clinics.
The facility has been in operation since the 1950s has been a staple in the community for golf enthusiasts and families for nearly 70 years. The current owners decided a much-needed renovation was required to upgrade the environment for a better customer experience and to make it Michigan’s premier practice facility and Adventure Golf destination.
“We wanted to create an elevated experience for the recreational golfer and the thousands of people who enjoy our Adventure Mini Golf every year,” said Frank Sheckell, one of the center’s owners. “We worked hard to transform the space from some place you might come practice every once in a while, to a place you’ll want to come regularly, bring family and friends, and enjoy improving your skills.”
The 27-acre facility will now allow more golfers to practice year round, with 32 heated, covered tees for cold temperatures and shade and overhead fans to keep the space cool during the summer months. The additional 53 open-air tees, plus the short game area consisting of a manicured 3,500-square-foot putting green, sand bunker and chipping green are all now available for use.
Each year, the Royal Oak Golf Center boasts over 6 million golf balls hit on the range, and over 33,000 rounds of mini golf played.
